Charlotte McDougall Associates



Charlotte is a communication and personal development coach. For the last ten years she has been working with top city institutions and private clients. She works at all levels from 1-1 coaching with board members and senior management to running group training and communication workshops.

Charlotte works with clients to make them conscious and consistent in the way they present themselves in their professional lives. She works in winning new business, developing leadership skills, personal impact and building stronger client relationships.

She has recently coached individuals and teams from Aviva Investors, BlackRock, Barclays Capital, Betfair, Brown-Forman, Cable & Wireless, Citi, Clifford Chance, Credit Suisse, Deloitte, Deutsche Bank, Ernst & Young, GAM, HSBC, Goldman Sachs, J P Morgan Cazenove, Jupiter Asset Management, KPMG, Morgan Stanley, Severn Trent Water, The Carphone Warehouse, Vodafone and Unilever.

Charlotte also explores the specific communication issues for women in business. She explores what they can do to help build a solid foundation of confidence and self-awareness; how they can appear direct and strong but without losing their femininity.

Charlotte is a professional actress and writer and has appeared on film, television, stage and radio, recently appearing in “Downtown Abbey” and “Misfits.”. She is one half of comedy double act McDougall & Donkin and one quarter of comedy team "The Bearded Ladies." She has written and starred in "Speeding" for Channel 4, "The Bearded Ladies" for BBC2 and four series of "The Bearded Ladies" for Radio 4. Charlotte has appeared alongside Cate Blanchett, Miranda Hart, Stephen Fry, Sally Phillips and Ronnie Corbett.



Hugo Simpson is a communication and personal development coach and works at all levels from 1-1 coaching with board members and senior management to running communication workshops and group presentation skills training courses. An expert in personal impact and presentation, he advises on all aspects of verbal and physical communication. His recent clients include Betfair, Candover Partners, Carrousel Capital, Citi, Credit Suisse, Davis Polk and Wardwell, Deloitte, GAM, HSBC, Jupiter Asset Management, KPMG, SAB Miller, Severn Trent Water, and UBS. He has also worked on major investor presentations and company exits. He teaches at the Cass Business School.

Hugo trained as an actor at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art and worked professionally for five years in TV, film and theatre. In 2001 he set up and ran a business in the events industry, and over the next five years turned it into an established, recognized company employing over thirty staff and operating in over twenty countries worldwide.



Edie is a communication and personal development coach. She works at all levels from 1-1 coaching to running group training and communication workshops for international participants.

Edie is passionate about clear and effective communication - she works with clients to help them draw in listeners even before they open their mouths to speak.  She coaches individuals to successfully pass promotion panels, win new business, develop leadership skills, increase their personal impact and build more significant business relationships.
Recent clients include Deloitte, Diageo, Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service, Diageo, the British American Project, Arbonne International and The Climate Project.

Edie Lush is professional broadcast and print journalist.  She is Executive Editor for Hub Culture and regularly interviews senior figures from finance and politics. Edie has been Associate Editor for Spectator Business and the economics and political correspondent for Bloomberg Television.  Edie has worked for The Spectator, Prospect, The Week, Investors Chronicle and the BBC.

Role players


Christopher Middleton is a professional role player with 10 years experience in a variety of industries delivering role play and forum theatre. Recent clients include Balfour Beatty, Barclays Capital, BOC, Citi, Davis Polk & Wardwell, Deloitte, Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs, KPMG, Ministry of Defence, Police & Guard Agency, Royal Mail, and Skanska UK.

Christopher became a professional actor after graduating from drama school in 1993 and has appeared in many theatre and television productions in the UK and overseas. His film work includes appearing as the footman Saunders in Miss Potter alongside Renée Zellweger, coalman Lanky Parsons in the comedy Gentlemen’s Relish with Billy Connolly, and in “And When Did You Last See Your Father” as a racing steward bamboozled by Jim Broadbent.



Simon has been a professional business role-player for nearly 10 years and has gained a wealth of experience from shop floor to boardroom across many different sectors. Clients he has worked alongside include Accenture, Barclays, Deutsche Bank, Emap, Hiscox, KPMG, NHS, O2, PwC, RBS, The Economist and numerous city law firms. He also has project management and facilitation expertise and is an associate member of the CIPD.

Simon has been a professional actor since 1995 after graduating from the prestigious Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and has appeared in theatre, TV, radio and film. This has included everything from The Royal Shakespeare Co. and regional tours as well as the West End to playing the dog in Peter Pan. He also appeared in Eastenders, Coronation Street and Casualty amongst others.



Caron has a career background in sales management and marketing. He worked in a senior position at Harrods and then as National Sales Manager for the consumer electronics company JVC.

Caron came to acting quite late but has worked in theatre, television and film.

Over the last 10 years his acting and personal skills combined with his business experience have been used extensively in forum theatre and role-play work. He works at all levels from Directors, Partners and Chief Executives to senior managers and sales training. He is experienced in performance and 1-1 role play.

Caron has recently worked with the Barclays Capital, BBC, Deutsche Bank, Ernst & Young, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, KPMG, the NHS, Rolls-Royce and the UN . He is most interested in the personal development of his clients and his feedback skills are highly regarded.
